Residential Investigation #1

Posted on March 16, 2013 at 3:40 PM Comments comments (0)

SCP has just wrapped up our first residential investigation and we are very pleased with the outcome ! Here' a brief synopsis...There were claims of a little girl presence, shadows and a male voice loudly yelling at the residents. We performed an investigation which was relatively quiet, however we had one instance of a kitchen cabinet opening and a shower curtain partially opening. During evidence review, we were able to get EVP's of both the little girl and the male presence. We returned and performed a cleansing of the house and are waiting to hear that the activity has ceased.

I have to say that I am very proud of how our team worked together and excited that we were able to catch relevant evidence and find a solution. It couldn't have gone any smoother. This is what it's all about and why we exist as a come to the aid of those who are uncomfortable with the happenings in their personal space. Homes (and businesses !) should be where we feel safe, and give us comfort and warmth. It's not ok to be scared in your own personal space, and that is where we come in to find out what's going on so we can come up with a plan to reclaim your home for yourself and send any entities where they should be. If spirit energy is not the cause of the issues, then our goal is to find a rational explanation to ease the clients mind. This is why we do what we do...not to become "big shot ghost hunters", not to try and get a TV show, not to make money (these services are always free), but to simply help people. If I needed any more confirmation that we are on the right track, I'm 100% sure that this was what I was supposed to do. You hear some people say that they were "called" to do a certain thing and now I understand.

Grey Ghost Paracon 2013

On February 2nd, the team attended Grey Ghost Paracon on the USS Hornet aircraft carrier in Alameda. I was really looking forward to it...not only because I've never been on a ship, but I was excited to hear some of the guest speakers. When I got there, a docent was explaining the history of the Hornet and I caught up with the others.

The first speaker was Dr. Pamela Heath. She did a fascinating presentation about table tipping. It was something that was very popular in the Victorian era when spiritualism was all the rage. It involves a group of people, holding hands around a table and using their collective energy as well as energy from any spirits present to cause the table to move on it's own. During the investigation that evening she was going to hold table tipping sessions and we were really looking forward to experiencing that. You can go to her website to learn more about it.  http/

We then were offered a tour of the ship. If you've never been to the USS Hornet, plan to one's just a really neat experience. It's hard to imagine living on a ship like that for months at a time. But they had everything they needed. In the laundry room there were big ironing board tables for pressing uniforms and hug washers and dryers. In the bakery I saw enormous mixers with equally enormous attachments. Let me know if you want to see more pictures of the ship and I'll post some.

After the tour was some time for lunch then back for more talks. I missed the next one, but was settled in in time for Paul Bradford of Ghost Hunters International. I was really stoked to meet him and he's hilarious (cute, too !)..his talk had people cracking up the entire time. It was mostly about experiences with GHI and the places they've traveled and equipment that he's helped develop. You can check out Paul at https/

The next presentation was about building your presence on YouTube by Alejandro Dominguez  aka the Dead Explorer ( http/ ). Now, this was a very interesting topic. He shared tips and tricks that he's learned over time to generate more traffic to your YouTube videos and how your videos can become more visible in searches. This guy knows what he's talking about, and I really learned a lot.

For me, the highlight was next...Bill Murphy from Fact or Faked Paranormal Files on the SyFy channel. I'm a big fan of the show so I was elated to meet him. Solano Paranormal's own Beth and Scott are friends with Bill and his gorgeous wife, so not only did I meet and get a picture with Bill Murphy, we all had dinner together. Wow. It was great. But before that, he gave his presentation on the Memory of Water.  It was well researched, and though pretty scientific, I managed to follow it and the hour flew by. I'll try to get a synopsis of it to put on the site because it really was fascinating.

The hosts of the evening, Alameda Paranormal (http/ ) did a presentation then we had the musical stylings of DJ Kos. ( https/ )  I'm more of a country music person, but I really enjoyed his set. His act is not just music but a paranormal/horror themed video presentation as well that's right in time with the music. The only strange thing was looking around at a roomful of people watching a DJ like they were at the movie theater. No dancing. And I wasn't going to be the one that started, lol ! Check out his page and if you ever get the chance, go see him live.

That was the last of the presentations. They were providing dinner in the Hornet's mess hall, which I'm sure would have been a unique experience but we decided to leave the ship for dinner. (Next time you're at Panera Bread, give the Big Kids Grilled Cheese a has bacon !) Then back to the ship to get ready for the investigation !

For the investigation, we split up into groups, about 6-9 people per group. Every half hour or so, each group wopuld switch areas. We started out in a room that looked like it was an office. We had recorders and K2 meters out and we asked that any spirit communicate by turning the small flashlight on and off. We did quite a bit of luck with the flashlight, but not much else.

When it came time to switch, we join Dr. Pamela Heath for a table tipping session. We had been looking forward to experiencing this all day. You could tell that this was something Dr. Heath was very enthusiastic about. Her smile was contagious and I told her "You look like a kid in a candy store !" (Candy makes me smile, too, lol !) One thing she wanted to explain about table tipping was that it was more effective, as well as more enjoyable, when the mood of the sitters is happy and energetic. It's not supposed to be a somber occasion, it's supposed to be fun ! For those not familiar with table tipping, here's a brief explanation. Those present sit around a table and place their hands on top. The idea is to draw upon the combined energy of the group, as well as any spirit energy present, to make the table move on its own. So there we sat, and we followed Dr. Heath's lead and began to concentrate, then call upon any spirits that might have been lurking nearby. She began to call upon deceased family members, so we did as well. We began to feel some currents of energy coursing under our fingers and knew we were getting close. Then we decided that it might work to appeal to any male sailors who might be lingering and we sang some old songs and called the names of what we assumed might be some favorite pinups of a WWII era sailor. Finally, the table begin to rock...back and forth, back and forth. We began to laugh, hoot and holler and were rewarded with the table rocking faster and faster. The next group came in and saw what was happening and a couple of then out their hand on the table to feel the movement...which promptly disrupted the flow of energy and the table stopped. I don't know if any other groups had success with the table that night, but we were ecstatic by what we experienced. I'm looking forward to trying that again !

We switched quite a few more times by the end of the night...we did a ghost box session and got a few relevant responses and I got an interesting photo of an orb in motion, but otherwise we had no personal experiences and didn't capture any evidence. Regardless, it was a good time. Thanks to the USS Hornet and to Alameda Paranormal Researchers for a  great day....and I hear they made around $10,000 for the USS Hornet museum ! We have been invited back to the ship in May with another group...we'll see what happens !
